Dragonflies are mostly known as predators. The larvae inhabit water and adults fly near aquatic places. They are diverse in color and shape. There are 2 types of major dragonflies in the world such as Dragonflies and Damselflies. The eyes of dragonflies are close together and their wings are broadly opened from the body. They are robust in nature in contrast, damselflies are delicately built small odonates, with well-separated compound eyes. During rest, their wings are folded over the abdomen or slightly spread.there are many species of dragonflies that are endemic to Sri Lanka.
